7Nutrition Keto Cream Caramel Crunch 0.75KG - white coconut cream with no added sugar and no maltitol
7Nutrition Keto Cream Caramel Crunch is a captivatingly delicious, unique cream with a caramel flavor with peanuts without the addition of palm fat and sugar - a cream dedicated especially to people on a ketogenic diet, because, unlike most sugar-free spreads, it does not contain maltitol and is sweetened only with erythritol.
Is maltitol keto-friendly?
Maltitol is the most commonly used sweetener in sugar-free spreads - in the clean keto approach, however, it is not a recommended sweetener, because in some people, and in excessive amounts for everyone, it may lead to the body's precipitation from ketosis.
When choosing sweeteners suitable for a ketogenic diet, look for options with zero net carbohydrate content, which are both low in calories and have a low glycemic index (GI index).
Taking into account the glycemic index that ranks the products and the carbohydrates they contain according to their influence on blood glucose levels, we can see that maltitol is not that different from sugar! Surprised?
- White bread: IG 75
- Table white sugar: IG 65
- Maltitol syrup: IG 52
- Maltitol Powder: IG 35
- Erythritol: IG 0
The glycemic index is not the most accurate way to test how a given food affects the blood sugar level on a ketogenic diet, more accurate results are given by tests carried out with a glucometer, which show that after eating 50g of maltitol syrup, the blood sugar level of the respondents increases by up to 40 points in only 30 minutes! Such parameters clearly indicate that maltitol is not a sweetener suitable for a ketogenic diet and erythritol is a better choice.
As an aside, it can be noted that maltitol not only raises blood sugar levels almost in the same way as table sugar, but also has a laxative effect and causes stomach ailments in the case of more sensitive people.
In addition, maltitol, unlike erythritol, is not that low-calorie sweetener, 100g of pure maltitol has about 220kcal - 250kcal, but sometimes erythritol has zero calories! For this reason, in the nutritional table and in the composition tab, we provide the corrected nutritional values of the cream - it is less caloric than the manufacturer declares on the label.

* In our opinion, the manufacturer made a calculation error when calculating the caloric content of the cream, assuming that erythritol is 4kcal / 1g. Since erythritol is a carbohydrate with no energy value, we provide the proportion of macronutrients and caloric content taking this fact into account.
