Psyllium is a form of fiber derived from the husks of the plantago ovata, a naturally occurring seed in India. Simply put, psyllium powder is a finely ground husk.

Psyllium husk and powder are not only excellent constipation aids, but their probiotic properties help fight infection and reduce inflammation. It can also be used to treat dysentery, chronic diarrhea, irritable bowel, hemorrhoids, cystitis, and even high cholesterol.

Important! When consuming psyllium, make sure to replenish your body with plenty of water as psyllium swells and absorbs very large amounts of fluid.

Plantain contains a large amount of natural fiber, similar to that found in flaxseed or oat bran. It is consumed in the form of seeds or husks together with meals or drinks. It should not be eaten in any other form. Added to meals in the form of husks or seeds, it thickens them, which is why it is a good addition to soups and sauces. Shells of plantain egg can be served as an addition to yoghurt or milk, together with cereals and fruit. To fully benefit from the beneficial effects of the plant, it is worth taking it during everyday meals.

The subtle difference between psyllium husk and ground psyllium powder

Psyllium husk swells to form a jelly-like mask when mixed with any liquid and thus adds volume to the diet, which is a factor that can help reduce constipation symptoms. Husk has a slightly grainier texture than powder when mixed with liquids. Both the powder and the husk come from the same source, but the husk is less concentrated nutritionally. Psyllium husk may increase satiety and slow digestion. This can help you reduce your calorie intake and your blood sugar levels will not rise. Since this aspect also controls food intake, weight management becomes easier with the use of psyllium husks.

Psyllium powder is made by grinding psyllium husks into a fine dust. This ground psyllium powder instantly dissolves in liquid, reducing the fiber benefits, while the entire husk absorbs water and expands up to ten times, giving you more of the benefits of fiber intake and reducing the amount of calories you absorb
