An interesting fact is that Frupp fruit bars are sweetened with trehalose - it is a natural sweetener in the form of disaccharide (a type of carbohydrate, it is made of two glucose molecules), with a mild, slightly sweet taste and a sweetness equal to 50% of sucrose, i.e. white sugar. Trehalose is characterized by slow metabolism by the body, thanks to which the blood glucose level does not rise rapidly, but steadily, due to the small amount of enzymes that digest this sugar, consumption of trehalose does not result in a change in blood sugar, although it itself is quite high glycemic index IG72. Trehalose occurs naturally in small amounts in wine, beer or bread, i.e. fermented products, but also in mushrooms, lobsters and honey, in Poland it is often added as a stabilizer and 'glue' for sushi rice.
