Sriracha sauce is a spicy chili sauce that comes from Thailand. Its name comes from the town of Si Racha, located east of Bangkok. The name of this town is also used to describe a particular type of chili sauce.

The proper pronunciation of the name is "see-rah-chah" or "see-rah-shah", where "see" is pronounced as in "see", "rah" as in "car", and "chah" or "shah" depends on your preference, but both forms are accepted.
