Applied Nutrition Cream of Rice is an instant carbohydrate meal - a form of rice gruel, it is also sometimes referred to as rice cream or risan (similar to oatmeal). The production process involves grinding rice grains, which produces a fine, easily digestible porridge/rice meal with a texture similar to classic oatmeal - but in this case the base is rice, not oatmeal.

Banana Protein Shake with Cream of Rice:

  • 1 scoop of Cream of Rice
  • 1 cup of milk (can be plant-based)
  • 1 ripe banana
  • 1 tbsp peanut butter
  • 1 teaspoon honey, flavoring or sweetener
  • 1 scoop of whey protein
  • Berries for garnish
  1. Cook Cream of Rice in milk according to instructions on package.
  2. In a separate bowl, blend the banana, peanut butter, honey and whey protein.
  3. Once Cream of Rice is cooked, add the banana mixture and mix thoroughly.
  4. Serve sprinkled with berries.

Cream of Rice with Raspberries and Almonds:

  • 1 scoop Cream of Rice
  • 1 cup of milk (can be plant-based)
  • Fresh raspberries
  • 2 tablespoons of almond flakes
  • 1 teaspoon honey, flavoring or sweetener
  • 1 Tbsp egg white (optional)
  1. Cook Cream of Rice in milk according to instructions.
  2. Stir in the raspberries and almond flakes.
  3. Once Cream of Rice is cooked, serve with raspberries, almond flakes, honey and optional egg white.

Protein Rice Cake Cookies:

  • 2 scoops of Cream of Rice
  • 1 cup of milk (can be plant-based)
  • 1/2 cup of egg white
  • 1/4 cup honey or peanut butter
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1/2 cup dried fruit (such as raisins)
  1. Cook Cream of Rice in milk, then set aside to cool.
  2. Add egg white, honey, chopped nuts and dried fruit to the cooked rice gruel.
  3. Form small cakes from the mixture and place on a baking sheet.
  4. Bake in the preheated oven according to the instructions on the egg white package until the cookies are browned.
