Although the history of Cream Soda drinks is fairly well documented, it is unclear where their name comes from, suggesting the addition of cream. The first recipes for Cream Soda are around 150 years old, the oldest recipe is considered to be by E. M. Sheldon, published in 1852 in the Michigan Farmer journal; the recipe mentions water, potassium tartar (i.e. cream of tartar, one of the clues as to the origin of the name), salt, eggs and milk (the last ingredients create a creamy foam, which may also justify the name); These ingredients had to be mixed, heated, and after cooling down, mixed with water and a teaspoon of baking powder, in order to obtain an incredibly delicious frothy, creamy drink with a foamy texture. A decade later, the patent for 'cream soda-water' was granted to Alexandrowir C. Howell from New Jersey - his recipe was based on baking powder, water, sugar, egg whites, flour, potassium tartrate and citric acid and 'any flavor additives' such like lemon oil or vanilla extract, added to the drink just before drinking it. Contemporary Cream Soda does not contain milk, eggs, or even potassium tartrate, but they constantly delight with intense vanilla flavor.
Boylan Bottling is an American brand specializing in the production of carbonated drinks, the history of which dates back to 1891, when the first plant was opened in Paterson, New Jersey, from 2013 the fanric was located in New York.
One of the features that distinguished Boylan drinks from other soft drinks was the use of cane sugar instead of glucose-fructose syrup at a time when the beverage industry massively shifted to this cheaper sugar substitute.
Nowadays Boylan drinks, with 120 years of tradition, enjoy unflagging popularity and are appreciated, among others. Due to the characteristic glass bottles in which the drink is sold - rhetor, they look like they were taken straight out of the times of Al Capone and New York Prohibition.
